Last week I hinted that you might be seeing quite a few more cocktails from Paul Clarke’s Cocktail Chronicles because we seem to have very similar bar inventories. This week’s cocktail is
THE RED HOOK: STRAIGHT FROM CHAPTER 4
This cocktail is by Enzo Errico from New York city (according to Clarke) and is – perhaps not surprisingly – a riff on the Manhattan. According to Clarke, this drink is a “robust mix with a bitter edge and a dry funk.” I’m not sure if I could describe it any better.
The choice of Punt e Mes is an important part of this cocktail – it brings an extra kick of bitterness and strength and really shines alongside the Marascino.
I suspect you’ll be seeing more like this – we’re really enjoying mixing our way through Cocktail Chronicles. I promise they won’t all be Manhattan variants!
