Previously known as “The Old Fashioned Whiskey Cocktail” or “The Whiskey Cocktail made in the Old Fashioned Way”. It’s about as classic as a classic cocktail can get!
This is one of my favorite cocktails. It’s also a fantastic formula for a world of delicious drinks. Before we go too crazy mixing things up (get it?) I thought it’d be worth going back to the basics with our favorite recipe for this delicious and classic drink.
Wait, but I make it with…
I know this may not be the recipe you’re used to, and for the most part I think the drink is open to interpretation (Well, don’t go too far…) There are a lot of regional differences but if you’re looking to stay pretty close to the classic version, this recipe will get you close.
But not Quite!
In the most traditional sense, this cocktail should be made with sugar and water, muddled in the glass. But I prefer to make it with Rich Simple. Again – to each his own!
By the way – if you’re interested in the history of the cocktail check out our post “Deconstructing the Old Fashioned” and a great comparison about The Old Fashioned vs the Manhattan (another great classic!)
