Tommy's Margarita with lime wheel and salt rim

(Jump to recipe)

Just about everyone’s heard of a Margarita – but did you know that this particular Margarita recipe is one of the reasons for its worldwide popularity?

Tommy’s Margarita was invented by Tequila legend Julio Bermejo at Tommy’s Mexican Restaurant in San Francisco, California. The key difference between this recipe and its predecessors is the use of Agave Nectar instead of orange liqueur. The rest – as they say – is history!

Even better? Tommy’s is still open today, so you’re welcome to stop by San Francisco to give the original a taste!
