When you love a Dark and Stormy but the weather’s just too nice…

Give this one a try. It’s a summery adaptation on the wintery ginger drink, and I’ll be honest – I’d drink it year-round! It also has a bit of a cheat – it uses The Perfect Purée of Napa Valley’s Ginger Sour blend in place of lime juice or ginger beer. We wanted to test if it could stand up to the challenge of this traditionally very gingery cocktail. The verdict? Not bad!

Flavor and Fruitiness

While it lacks the strong ginger “bite” that comes with stronger brands of ginger beer, this cocktail makes up for in flavor. The unusual addition of Apricot Jam fills in the flavor with a warm fruitiness, and the egg white makes the whole cocktail velvety smooth.

I have a bit of a ginger beer problem, but the Ginger Sour blend held up nicely in the cocktail. It does lack the carbonation, so plan to add some other ingredient to kick up the flavor (in this case, egg whites – but soda water would work nicely too!
