We’re a couple of days early for this month’s Mixology Monday, but we were inspired! MxMo’s February theme is “Not Quite Martinis” and I’m always up for a savory cocktail. So this month we’re taking our dirty Gin martini up a notch … or three. (Don’t worry, there will be Gin!)

Thank you Dagreb from Nihil Utopia for hosting, and for the great suggestion!

Remember the Dirty Martini?

As I mentioned back in the Podcast Episode 33, back in the day Dirty Martinis were “my drink.” If given the choice, this is what I was making. It’s one of the few truly savory cocktails, and I absolutely love the briny salty flavor. Dagreb’s requirement for Gin and suggestion for an altered martini got me thinking… and digging through the fridge. The result was an absolute masterpiece!
The result absolutely blew me away. It was spicy and savory, and very earthy – but not overwhelmingly so. I suspect this recipe might just replace my old favorite in the future, after all!

The Pepperotini

I took the classic dirty Gin martini (which is a bit different than my personal favorite recipe above – since I usually stick with vodka) and switched out the olive brine for something with a little more “zip” – Pepperocini juice. Then I topped it off with a bit of celery bitters because, well, I love celery bitters in pretty much all savory drinks.

Thanks again to Dagreb and Mixology Monday!

Pepperotini

This is like the Dirty Martini's naughty cousin. Earthy, spicy and a little funky, it's a great drink for anyone who appreciates a savory drink.
