If you’re in the US, you’re probably hearing all about Father’s Day right now. It’s all over TV, the web, and (if yours is anything like mine) your Facebook feed. But did you know Monday is an important holiday as well? Oh yes! Not to be overshadowed, Monday is National Martini Day! And we’ve partnered up with the folks behind Purity Vodka to show you how we’re celebrating… with one delicious Martini cocktail.

National Martini Day

How this holiday doesn’t have equal media coverage as Father’s Day, beats me! This is an important holiday for Vodka and Gin drinkers everywhere! It celebrates a cocktail that is arguably one of the purest expressions of these clear spirits. OK, ok. Not everyone celebrates cocktails the way I do – but if you have to get through a Monday anyway, why not do it with a Martini?

Not all Vodkas are Made Equal

I’ll admit. I’m guilty of over-simplifying Vodka. I tend to think of it in two key categories: Vodka that makes you feel awful the next day, and Vodka that doesn’t. So when the lovely folks behind Purity Vodka invited Chris and I to dinner and cocktails, I was looking forward to being persuaded otherwise.

And persuaded I was! Not only were the cocktails fantastic, but I could really see how the flavor of Purity was just plain different from the vodkas I’d grown used to. It’s smooth (I know everyone says that, but really!) with a slight sweetness and absolutely none of that hot alcoholic burn. I found myself enjoying the flavor – not something I say often about Vodka!

A Classic Gin Vodka Martini

For our #NationalMartiniDay cocktail, Chris and I thought we’d feature a classic Gin Martini recipe – with Purity Vodka instead. The resulting cocktail was downright dangerous. With just a hint of Dry Vermouth and Orange bitters, this drink really lets the vodka shine. It’s refreshing, clean and velvety smooth.

I usually have to take my time with Martinis due to the alcohol burn that usually comes with. This time, I realized a short minute in that I’d already finished half the drink. Shoot!

So I guess I will have to admit – there are more than two types of Vodka. And I’ll have to admit, this one I really like! (And I’m not just saying that because we’re partnering on this article, I promise.) Whatever you’re drinking to celebrate #MartiniDay, enjoy! If you have Purity around, definitely consider this recipe (It’s good!)

Oh, and while you’re at it – maybe offer Dad a Martini too?
