Pat O'Brien's Hurricane Drink Recipe

A traditional take on the classic Hurricane cocktail from New Orleans

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Dark Rum Myers
  • 2 oz White Rum Plantation 3 stars
  • 1 oz Lime Juice
  • 1 oz Orange Juice
  • 0.5 oz Passion fruit Puree See instructions below
  • 0.5 oz Simple Syrup
  • 1 barspoon Grenadine

Passion Fruit Puree

  • 3 each Passion Fruits
  • 1 cup Simple Syrup

Instructions

  • Combine all ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice, and shake hard for 10 seconds.
  • Add fresh crushed ice to your Hurricane glass, strain the cocktail into your cocktail glass with ice, and top with more ice accordingly.
  • Garnish with an orange slice and cocktail cherry.

Sub Ingredient Instructions

  • Spilt passion fruit into 2 halves, and scoop out the pulp and seeds.
  • Combine an equal parts blend of passion fruit juice and pulp (de-seeded) and simple syrup in a blender.
  • Blend until the blender gets a little warm so the sugars meld together.
  • Run the mixture through a fine-mesh strainer or piece of cheesecloth to remove any remaining chunks of fruit.
